Kickstart Your Summer!
WRCJ 90.9 FM and Edsel & Eleanor Ford House have partnered to present “Kickstart Your Summer,” a fun-filled event for families, students and arts organizations on Saturday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event features continuous live entertainment, an instrument “petting zoo” and other children’s activities, and more than 30 exhibitors from Southeast Michigan arts and educational organizations. The event will be held at the Activities Center on the grounds of Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, 1100 Lake Shore Rd, in Grosse Pointe Shores.

Oakland County Fair celebrates 40 years

Celebrating 40 years of fun, the Oakland County Fair starts off with a BANG on Friday, July 6, opening at 4 p.m. and with a first-ever fireworks display at dusk. Oakland County Parks and Recreation is proud to once again serve as presenting sponsor of the fair.

More time for fun!

Now 10 days long, the Oakland County Fair will take place July 6 – 15 at Springfield Oaks County Park in Davisburg. Daily activities include:

Friday, July 6: Opening day, featuring $10 carnival ride arm bands. Entry after noon is free with 2012 Oakland County Parks annual vehicle permit; fireworks display shortly after dusk.

Saturday, July 7: Armed Services Day, with free parking and entry to fair and evening Figure-eight races for military personnel (must show active military ID).

Monday, July 9: Free admission for seniors, ages 62 and over, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Tuesday, July 10: Twelve-dollar Tuesday — $12 carnival ride arm bands for carnival rides, plus free entry to evening rodeo.

Wednesday, July 11: Kids Day with a carnival arm band good for entrance to the rodeo and special activities.

Thursday, July 12: Oakland County Parks and Recreation Day offers free parking with an Oakland County Parks and Recreation 2012 Annual Vehicle Permit. Individuals with disabilities are invited to a circus show at 10 a.m. and can use the carnival rides free from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Sunday, July 15: Family Fun Day — free parking all day for fairgoers who show their parking pass from a previous day’s visit.

Regular Fair admission is $10/vehicle or $4/person walk-in.

This year the Fair offers a $20/person Grandstand Pass, good for entry to all evening events, including NEW events like Battle of the Bands, and the Oakland County Idol competition, as well as the annual Rodeos, Off-road Demos, Michigan Monster Truck Shootout, Championship Figure-eight racing and Pocket Pullers.
