Parents Empowered: Facing the Bullies

Children with disabilities, including physical, developmental, intellectual, emotional, and sensory disabilities, as well as children with special health needs, such as epilepsy or food allergies, are at an increased risk of being bullied. This is something that we want to see addressed in our schools and community. Any number of factors- physical vulnerability, social skill challenges, or intolerant environments-may increase the risk of bullying. This presentation will share some insights into what we can do as parents, teachers, administrators, and community members to stop bullying.Drew Yanke, M.A. TLLP, Adjunct Professor, Psychology Dept., Wayne State University is a psychotherapist working with children and families.
