About

Gifted in Michigan is lead by a Mensa member who is also a mother to a gifted child.  I decided to start this group to create an environment where our children and other gifted children can feel like they fit in.

We are a secular group with a zero tolerance for discrimination.

Our members practice varying schooling options for their children including public school, private school, gifted school, virtual school, and homeschool.  Our group welcomes the diversity of educational options and respects the choices our members make for their children.

This group is meant to be a safe place for parents of gifted children to share stories, seek advice, find friends and partake in in-person gatherings. The children will get to participate in fun, challenging, educational activities, and interact with kids like themselves! While the group is based in Southeast Michigan, anyone with a gifted child is welcome to join in the discussions and events.

Author Susan Casey will be on blog tour October 24-28, 2011. She would love to be interviewed for your blog site.
Susan Casey is the author of Kids Inventing!
A Handbook for Young Inventors and Women Invent! Two Centuries of Discoveries That Have Shaped Our World. She is also a journalist and her articles and photographs have appeared in Family Circle, Americana, USAir, Women’s Sports, Soap Opera Digest, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle and Examiner, Inventors Digest, Electrical Contractor and many other publications. When she was a girl, she loved reading and writing and through the efforts of a teacher, her first magazine article was published when she was in the seventh grade. After graduating with a degree in history from Santa Clara University, she spent a summer doing volunteer work in a small village in rural Mexico. It was a trip to Africa that prompted her writing career.
While in her 20s, she worked as a nanny for an English family in Ghana, West Africa, and was so fascinated by what she saw that she started writing and photographing as a way to share her experiences with friends and family. She has since written and taken photographs for articles about other places she has visited and about a wide range of topics including inventors, oddball events, moviemaking and construction. She also embarked on a career as a teacher. She continues to split her time between writing and teaching and lives in Los Angeles.

Interviews should be completed prior to October 21, 2011. This is a perfect opportunity for students, librarians and bloggers to access award winning artists and authors at no cost. Bring the arts to life; involve students in the interview and blogging process.

The Tour will be publicized by Provato Events through a press release prior to the event. All interviews will be listed on the Provato Events website with links to the blog sites. Additionally, most authors/artists will provide links to their interviews, which can help drive traffic to your site.

To schedule an interview, please contact me today.

    Thank you!
