Another great Michigan camp that should definitely be included on this page is Bohemian Adventure. My son attended last year and loved it.

Here’s a description from their website:

Bohemian Adventure is an active travel camp filled with exploration, learning and discovery. Campers 9-15 years old spend four unforgettable days connecting with nature as they bike from Kalamazoo to the Lake Michigan coast via the Kal-Haven trail. During their session, campers will experience survival challenges, team building and leadership exercises, outdoor cooking, and wilderness education. To participate campers must provide their own bicycle, helmet and tent. Amazingly affordable and voted best value summer program in West Michigan.

Another one: Camp Infinity, offered by the Michigan Council for Women in Technology is a FREE tech camp for girls going into grades 5-8. The girls do website building, animation and robotics. Every girl I’ve known to do it has loved it: http://www.mcwt.org/Camp_Infinity_185.html?zoom_highlight=camp%20infinity

Thanks for the great post. NorthforkNetwork is the WordPress blog for Northfork Farms & Outback in Webberville, MI, which is 30 mins east of Lansing. We offer an overnight summer horse camp for girls ages 9-16. The riding instruction is provided by the coaches of the Michigan State Equestrian Team. Oakland University’s School of Engineering and Computer Science offers weekly programs this summer for upper elementary, middle and high school students who want to explore their interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics (STEM). Students are taken through a series of hands-on, student-centered experiences where they learn a little bit about each of the engineering fields. Students build and test equipment and conduct experiments in the various STEM disciplines. Weeklong summer day camps are offered Mondays through Fridays in June, July and August from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the campus of Oakland University. Take classes such as Ground Robotics, Computer Science Basics, Bioengineering, and more!

Do you know of any programs that study astronomy or astrology for middle school-aged kids?

    • giftedinmichigan says:

I recommend you check out some of the college summer programs. These are most likely to cater to middle school-aged kids and to cover a wide variety of learning subjects. Check out a community college near you or one of the major universities in the area.

This is a wonderful list. Here’s another group of STEM/STEAM camps I’d like to share with you, from New Morning School in Plymouth, an independent school. These camps range from age 3 right up through sixth grade. https://newmorningschool.org/summer-programs-scheduled-to-begin-july-9-run-through-aug-10/
